“So my previous review got deleted. Not sure why. I don’t recall saying anything ugly or using profanity or violating any kind of rule..
So anyway.. I used to like this podcast a good bit. Until I got much further along in it. I realized over and over and over again that the DM is very inexperienced, which would normally be ok or even great. But there’re just some very common knowledge type things, and blatant errors that get somewhat grating sometimes.
My main point of contention or complaint, is the very very clear bias and favoritism. You’ll notice as the episodes go on and on, that the DM will always take the side of Zoltanna/Casey, regardless of any really bad rolls, regardless of certain rules, even when Casey or her character is very clearly wrong or failing a challenge, or roll, or battle, or major plot point. I have many examples of this, like the many many times that V (the DM) doesn’t even require Zoltanna to roll at all, just allows her to auto-win some type of encounter or interaction with an NPC. The example of the really mundane speech she gives to gain followers, was just a very generic.. kinda just bad speech.
However the thing that makes me actually write a negative review, when I barely ever leave reviews on anything at all.. is there clear mistreatment and added difficulty that the favoritism adds to mainly just Ballance’s character. He’s constantly insta-failing, rolling good or ‘ok’ yet, still losing an interaction or encounter. Example being, Balance rolls a 15 and loses some normal conversation thing with an NPC, but, Zoltanna rolls a 3 or a 7 and succeeds in becoming a god… or gaining hundreds of followers.. or plenty of other things.. I just really really don’t like the bias and favoritism. It really really destroys the whole experience, the narrative just feels contrived, scripted, setup, whatever.. it’s just very aggravating. Especially when you DO like the individuals, you like the players, and I don’t hate or despise the DM.. I just hate that they can’t see it’s apparent they’re treatment of the players is highly skewed and prejudiced.”
