You have to ?? watch the show?? to enjoy the podcast??
It’s interesting to me that HBO missed the mark so thoroughly here. Plenty of people who enjoy podcasts don’t watch a lot of television. I’m using myself as an example here but this is a broadly accepted idea. The fact that you have to have access to HBO to watch the show... and then come back to the podcast... is ridiculous. The podcast jumped right in with plenty of discussion on a man named “Doug” who obviously no one is going to know about unless they watched the show. The team who produced this podcast didn’t properly assess how frustrating this would be to many potential listeners. And even if I would have found the HBO version of this story interesting, I’m honestly too annoyed to pursue the show, given that this podcast teases the content to an uninformed audience. AT THE VERY LEAST, put a disclaimer on your podcast description that you need to watch the show to enjoy this. I wasted like 4 minutes of listening trying to discern whether or not this would even be accessible to me. Extremely unimpressed.

Took an interesting show and turned it into a boring podcast. This is the Filet O’ Fish of podcasts.
