Great podcast!
If you weren’t familiar with the hosts of The Movies That Made Me, it would still be a terrific podcast. It’s delightful to learn about your favorite writer or director’s wide range of unexpected influences, and the enthusiasm is infectious. Who would’ve guessed that Thomas Jane is a French crime film aficionado, or that Don Coscarelli, director of the flying-death-sphere/creepy mortician masterpiece Phantasm, is a fan of the post-WWII melodrama The Best Years of Our Lives? Each episode results in me adding more movies to my to-be-watched stack, often ones I never would’ve considered watching in a million years (e.g., Pollyanna). But what makes it extra special is that the co-host is the great director Joe Dante. He’s very funny and informative, and, well, it’s just *cool* to be able to listen in as he discusses the movies with the guests.

don't know everyone showing up in the episodes but really enjoy going through the journey of talking about movies that I have never heard of. I think they haven't had a Patton Oswalkt episode... badly need one. But I won't take star off for that reason.Read full review »

The digressions are every bit as entertaining and revealing as the on-topic material. If you love...Read full review »

One of the only podcasts that I actually look forward to each week. A true bright light in these trying times.
