Episodes
In our second M&T Exclusives podcast, Mike and Steve spend time with Gary Cioni, owner of Sound Acres Studio. Gary has spent years as an audio engineer and music producer and offered his time up to us to talk through recording practices today vs years back. As we've talked about in previous episodes, it's amazing what can be done with a little technology ;)

Tuesday, January 7th, the music world lost a rock icon in that of legendary Rush drummer, Neil Peart. At age 67, Neil passed away from a battle with brain cancer. His mark on rock and his influence on drummers around the world will be forever felt. RIP Neil

Some bands just don't sound the same without some form of keys...whether it be organ, synth, or traditional piano, these groups might just be totally different without that pivotal role. Check out the episode to see who made the cut. Also, singer-songwriter VERSUS with James Taylor and Cat Sevens, hard to go wrong with those two. Enjoy the ep and send us some mail!!!

So many great women that helped to shape music over the years. Whether it's rock, country, gospel, blues, etc..music would not be what it is today without the tremendous contributions of the female artist. This list certainly isn't built for completeness, but hopefully we hit on many of your favorites. As always, let us know who we missed!

Big hair, big suits, big phones...We have literally been discussing the 80s since our second episode...so much that went right and quite a bit that went terribly wrong. Let us know if you agree with our highly scientific findings. Either way, we'd love to hear from you so make sure you send us some mail....love or hate, it's all good. Also...during VS, Steve decided to speak in the "echo-chamber" we discussed during the topic...so yea...enjoy that lol.

Way back when...music listeners would actually buy these things called albums. Believe it or not, you would sit down and listen to the entire thing. Wild, right? What happened to the album? We live in an age of the single, where the order of songs, the story that's meant to be told, and even the symbolic meaning of some of the cover art actually had value. Fear not rhythm section, Steve and Mike are going to take you through some of their favorites. If you're ever looking for a great...

What's in a good movie soundtrack? Some movies are awful...but have great soundtracks. Other movies are great ...and have terrible soundtracks. Some score all around. On this cast we get into our favorites. Hope you agree with our choices and if you don't, maybe you should give 'em a shot! Some great picks on this cast. We head into iconic southern rock tonight for our Versus segment - can't go wrong there. Lots of great mail as well, so please keep it coming!

Fine wine...or milk sitting out on a hot sunny day....where do your favorite bands fall? Do they get better with time or are they becoming harder and harder to stomach? On episode 10, Mike and Steve have a kindred rock-spirit moment talking about System of a Down, before getting into the topic. Then...the laundry list of bands that worsened over time...some that got better...and others that did a little of both. We wrapped the episode with a singer/songwriter Versus talking Bob Dylan and...

11 plus sub-genres, music videos, drum machines and 'snap tracks'??? Not your granddaddy's country....and that's a real shame. Where did all the good country music go? In episode 09 we talk about that...and who's still doing it right? Who changed the game? Some bands where the verdict is still out...Country music might be more household / mainstream than it's ever been, but is it really country??? Listen in to find out. Plus hear us pit Chris Stapleton against Jamey Johnson in our...

Potentially a dying art...the guitar solo. Has it all been done before? Who played 'em best? Listen to Episode 08 for some of our favorites. Hopefully you come across a few you didn't know existed? or maybe you did...in any event, listen because we really need the downloads!!! :) Also for all you Prog-Rockers out there, this is your shot as we cover ELP and YES for the Versus segment...I (Mike) begrudgingly fought my way through it...listen, it's just not my genre but hey, we do it for...

There's nothing like the real thing baby! Or maybe sometimes the second, or even third shot is better. Who knows!?!? Are some songs untouchable? If I said a song like, "All Along the Watchtower" do you think Dylan...? or do you go right to Hendrix? Sometimes covers overtake the original as the better known version, but does 'better known' mean ...better? Give episode 7 a listen and let us know who we missed or what your take is on our lists.

Who in rock gets beat on more than the band Creed? We couldn't think of many so figured they'd be a prime candidate for a little defense. In this episode Mike pleads his case as Steve (and much of the rest of the world) really needs to be convinced. Listen...the late 90s were an interesting time for music and... we're all friends here...aren't we???
Give the episode a listen and let us know your thoughts, we'd love to hear from you. Also, be on the lookout for our next full length...

--- yup, you read that right, ...Neil Diamond
In defense of.... a new kind of episode.
A 20 or so minute discussion about a musician / band who 'might' be misrepresented and/or misunderstood by most. In some cases there's a good reason - in others, maybe not.
In our premier of this new installment, Steve tries to convince Mike that Neil Diamond is no joke. Mike is a huge fan of the movie Saving Silverman so...Steve's got his work cut out for him. Give it a listen and let us know what...

Are you part of a supergroup? Probably not...and also, most bands who think they are, are not either. In episode 5 we breakdown the concept of a supergroup, share our opinion as to who fits and who doesn't and highlight the Gold Standard...All of this while likely offending everyone. Yup. In any event, give it a listen and let us know what you think. Who'd we miss? Where do you agree / disagree?
