More writing/production, less costuming details
I very much enjoyed Ronald D. Moore’s episode commentary podcasts for Battlestar Galactica, so I was thrilled when I discovered he was doing the same for Outlander. I am always fascinated to hear the rationale behind various adaptation/writing decisions, production details on sets, and stories from the writers’ room. Unfortunately, to get all that good stuff, you will have to put up with frequently boring and repetitive tangents on the costumes, “knit bits,” and complaints of how the camera fails to capture said costumes from Moore’s wife, who is also the series’ costume designer and who joins him on the podcast. An occasional mention of the costumes would be interesting, but this is overkill. On his BSG podcast, Moore was very good at taking you through the writing and production process and providing insight into why certain choices were made — something that is even more interesting when dealing with an adaptation versus an original series like BSG. I would rather hear more of that than listening for the fifth time how Claire only has a handful of costume pieces which can be combined to make a variety of outfits. Also, those who have not read the book series, beware: they often are cavalier with spoiling or at least significantly hinting at reveals further on in the series. Listen at your own risk.

As much as I love to listen, the random list of episodes-out of order, missing, mis-titled, etc. has frustrated the heck out of me. ‘Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ’ get your podcast together!
