““So, what do you think of The Organist,” she asked.
“Oh, I love it. I love The Organist,” I said, pretty convincingly.
“Did you listen to the last episode?”
“The last episode?”
“The very last one. The most recent one.”
“The one about… Oh, yeah, yeah, I listened to it.”
“Did you like it?”
“Like it? I loved it.”
She smiled. A long, knowing smile.
“I’m glad,” she said. And picked up her black leather purse from the floor.
“I’m glad,” she repeated.
Now it was me who smiled. Mine was a joyless smile, and I think it showed.
“How come?” I asked.
She put her hand inside her purse. The muscles in her arm tensed as if she was gripping something tight.
“Because if you really listened to it, you must know who I am. And you must know what to say in order to stop me from doing what I am about to do.””
