Moves past the actual-play genre
I listen to a lot of actual-play podcasts. It is amazing to see how a committed GM and willing players come together to create stories that rival anything on television or radio. No podcast does it better than The Orpheus Protocol. Rob (the GM) approaches the story with a writer’s mind and as a result the game is full of tension and sadness and allusions that an English teacher like me can really dive into. The main players: Staci, Jhan, and Dan are fantastic as well. They approach the game like actors not just players; creating moments that have had me laughing but also moments where I have had to pause the show because the emotion is so high. Truly The Orpheus Protocol goes beyond the actual-play genre and into solid radio drama. Top it off with excellent music and solid production and you have a show you can’t miss. And I don’t even like eldritch horror usually.

This show is a magnificent example of hard work, good casting, excellent editing, and masterful GMing. As someone who is not an avid horror fan, this show has me deeply hooked and enamored. Keep it up everyone!

The character work on this podcast as well as the amount of production really make this story come alive in a way you normally don’t find in live play casts. Keep up the good work folks. PS Mitch is the best.

If you like spies and horror and magic and occasional extreme horror, this podcast is for you. The production values in this actual play podcast are extremely high. At times, it feels more like an old school radio play than an RPG podcast. Give it a listen!
