Strangers connect
The 90’s a time when people had less distractions & prioritised speaking with people over the phone. Listening, having conversations truly connecting. Meeting that fundamental need of our existence being acknowledged ; being heard. The Mojave Phone Booth seems to be the place for Grace Sharp to offload the things that have been bottled up, the stories that steal our peace , is she looking for absolution. This production has an interesting premise. Connecting with strangers & sharing our thoughts has universal appeal. We are often more comfortable exposing our vulnerabilities or dark secrets to strangers as we do not fear their judgement. Answering a random anonymous phone call generates enough curiosity to encourage people to camp out in the Mojave Desert nearby. Who will call , what will you & they talk about ? It’s exciting to place yourself at the beck & call of fate, but are you sure you want to hear what is being said ? If you a looking for some nostalgia, respite from apocalyptic tales & enjoyed other dramas such as : 1994 Drywater Conversations from the Abyss The Long Hallway Motel Americana You may like this show ! My rating 6.7/ 10 The story could be improved by having a different caller each episode.
