“Hey folks, I’m Jon, your furthest fan in North America geographically. I write from northern Vancouver Island. I grew up near Detroit (South Windsor), have a Pistons logo tattooed on my back and stream every game. I enjoy your show and find it very helpful to better understand the things I see in games. But this year really sucks!
Omari you make recall I wrote you about how Saban Lee was actually good — and that night we went for 30 pts — and then you featured a story about him the next day. I found that satisfying, even if I was generally wrong.
What I’d like is two things. First about the Pistons. And second is how to cope with this year.
First. Monty Williams has a job, despite the team’s performance, so why not give Isaiah Livers and Marcus Sasser 10 shots each per night? Because neither of them seem to be in any sort of rhythm. And they are supposed to be shooters. Are they good or not? who knows? but neither have proven themselves. The message to them should be: play in flow, expect to hit buckets and have fun.
Second. Sometimes I get really irritated with all of this. Or feel sorry for myself. But instead of getting mad about Detoit basketball, I have changed the internal script. Anytime “Pistons” and “bad” enters my mind, I now think about improving my posture or fitness rather than dwell on this horrendous season. I know think of the 2023-2024 Pistons as a reminder to sit up or go outside (when the game is not on!)
That’s all!”
