The Pivot Training Camp tour is in full swing as we visit NFL cities sitting with players and coaches around the league bringing you exclusive interviews and sideline conversations to get you ready for the football season.
From the AFC north, straight down to another AFC powerhouse in the south, Ryan, Channing and Fred sit with Miami's Jevon Holland, for a conversation covering his upbringing, cultural roots, how everything he did as a child helped prepare him for the NFL and how he mentally and physically bounced back from injury.
After returning a 99yd interception for a touchdown against the Jets on Thanksgiving Day, Jevon injured his knee later in the game which took him from the highest of highs to a disappointing low, sidelining him for remainder of the year. Now, Heading into this season, Jevon is looking to make a name for himself as one of the top defensive players in the league and believes now is the time for his team to make a Super Bowl run.
The Miami Dolphins Captain and once 36th overall NFL pick from University of Oregon, Jevon approaches everyday the same, with a chip on his shoulder and soaking up anything that can give him an advantage against opponents. His pops was a CFL coach who helped tutor him both on and off the field, teaching him work ethic, discipline and focus. What some people would call "woke", Jevon called leadership as he was outspoken and during times of uncertainty in our country and used his platform to raise awareness. He shares with the guys the characteristics of the greatest safeties to play this game and expresses his gratitude for how Jalen Ramsey who has helped take his game to the an entirely new level.
Jevon is happy Tyreek Hill got his money and believes that Tua Tagovailoa can lead their team to the promised land, and he's remaining patient for his new contract and believes he will change generations of his family with money made from doing what he loves. He knows that it's time for the Dolphins to put up or shut up, he's paid his dues to the football Gods, reedy for his next chapter and enjoys the bonds he has with teammates. Jevon is the type of leader to invite you over his house any day of the week, but don't mess with his cats and be sure to take your shoes off at the door!!
