I got it
Let me start with I LOVE this podcast! I am on a journey of rediscovering my inner priestess and femininity. I definitely love the message of learning to accept help. It’s something I’ve been struggling with in my journey. I have an issue though. The perceived explanation of why we say “I got it”. I have worked in predominantly masculine careers, Airborne Medic, comercial fishing, sheet rock on and on. The reason I say no thank you is because it keeps me safe. While I appreciate help, I have found it is often used to exploit me in a time of need or as an example of how incapable I am at doing my job compared to my male counterparts. I got it syndrome has developed over the years as a form of protection. If a female mechanic walked up to my car I would be much more comfortable accepting help. I am from Alaska and we have to be very self sufficient because often there is no one else around. Moving to the continental United States, well things are very different. I find the help I receive here is usually an attempt to get my number or get me alone. I just think it’s important that women know it’s okay, that “I got it” Is a form of defense and at times accepting help can put you in danger. Thank you for your podcast! ❤️
