Description
AfterBuzz TV's The Prisoner AfterShow is a celebration of Patrick McGoohan's 1967 – 1968 spy fiction/science fiction/allegory 17 episode British TV series “The Prisoner”. The series follows a British former secret agent who is abducted and held prisoner in a mysterious coastal village resort where his captors try to find out why he abruptly resigned from his job.
The series addresses issues such as personal identity and freedom, democracy, education, scientific progress, art and technology, while still remaining an entertaining drama series. Over 17 episodes audiences witness a war of attrition between the faceless forces behind The Village (a Kafkaesque community somewhere between Butlins and Alcatraz) and its most strong willed inmate, No. 6. who struggles ceaselessly to assert his individuality while plotting to escape from his captors and to find out which side The Village is on and who is No. 1.
In this episode, hosts Meredith Placko, Stef Z and Phil Svitek discuss episode 2, “Chimes of Big Ben”.
