You’re supposed to be intrigued, but the “conversations” are just unnatural script readings & make one roll one’s eyes.

Joseph Conrad’s 1911 spy novel is reimagined through the eyes (and voice) of a modern-day woman. The adaptation is part mystery / part espionage with the main character hoping to solve a historical whodunnit that may implicate her ancestors. Brilliant.

The dialogue is often less than natural or fluid, but the plot is interesting enough to keep me coming back when I’m in the right mood.
