Human side, nuanced perspective
Love this World Cup coverage! They bring a nuanced technical perspective (not the same repetition of a single talking point like a lot of sports coverage) that reflects their love of soccer, and makes you feel like you are actually learning and gaining a greater appreciation for the complexity of the beautiful game. On top of that, from both their personal experiences, and their character, they emphasize the human side of the experience. It can be hard for me to watch a lot of sports coverage that seems to revel in the negative: what people did wrong, what a train wreck a game was, who or what is to blame. Instead, they remind me to think about how the players are feeling, and what their experience is like. It brings my perspective behind the scenes, and is exactly the kind of compassionate, insider angle I want. Would recommend to anyone: longtime soccer fans, or newbies!
