Episode #15: Mental Health in the Church ft. The Lutheran Foundation
Description
In this episode, we sit down with Carole Terkula from the Lutheran Foundation. We discuss the Mental Health Advocate Initiative and how it is transforming the local church in Fort Wayne.
The Lutheran Foundation welcomed its third cohort of congregational Mental Health Advocates during an in-person kick-off event held at The Lutheran Foundation on April 20. The Lutheran Foundation now has a total of 61 Mental Health Advocates serving in 53 congregations in northeast Indiana!
The Mental Health Advocates are either church staff or lay people passionate about mental health who are nominated by their pastor. The Mental Health Advocates work closely with The Lutheran Foundation’s Mental Health Advocate Facilitator to promote mental health ministry initiatives within their individual congregations that reduce the stigma of mental illness, support overall well-being, and provide encouragement and hope to people in their congregations who are living with a mental health concern.
