Love this podcast, feels like I'm there with them.
It took me a while, but I have finally caught up with this podcast. I subscribed back in November of '06 and it took me until just a few weeks ago to get caught up. Now I have to actually wait a week between editions and I really look forward to each new show! I'm loving all that I'm learning about an Everest expedition; the background, the side stories that we never hear about when we hear about an Everest expedition, the historical things that were happening this particular 2003 season (SARS, early stages of war in Iraq, etc). I'm so grateful for the narraration to point out things happening that I might otherwise overlook. This is NOT at all like going to a friends' house and watching (read: being subjected to) their vacation slide show. This is SO fascinating! As the mother of a son who has been "obsessed" with Everest and plans to someday hike it, it helps me to understand what he would have to face if he does. We are an avid hiking family, but I prefer my New York State Adirondack mountains, those are high enough for me! ; )

Thanks John for showing us a part of the world most of us will never experience. It has added a very human element to all of the stories of Everest!Read full review »
