“Most episodes are fine in this ten-minute-ish daily history podcast. The hosts have a modicum of chemistry, but spend far too much time trying to be the funny one with a quip. The editing can be a bit rough, with some of the retakes and cuts being awkwardly done. After so long you’d hope that the hosts would have worked out how to read their notes and sound reasonably unscripted, but alas. Nor can they confidently bounce off each other.
But there are some bad episodes, and times when they really should have thrown up a repeat rather than trying to force something out. Some topics really don’t need to be commemorated, or if they do need to be recognised, a more critical lens should be applied.”
