Capturing the complicated
Really appreciating the podcast not simply being a torching of Driscoll, but rather a greater narrative offering a mirror for a specific stream of Christianity to evaluate itself. A stream which thrives on a cycle of raising up celebrity pastors only to revel in the drama once they fall. Personally, Mark had a profound impact on my life while I was in college in Seattle, and like many others, it’s complicated to reconcile the real life changing and Christ glorifying stories that came from this movement with the just as important and legitimate relationally damaging and abusive stories of others. Mars Hill was by no means The Kingdom, but without question, there were glimpses of Kingdom life at times. Thanks so much for telling this story as a whole and not just the tragedy it ended in. Cheers.
