“I honestly LOVE this podcast! I am not a big fan of podcasts, I actually don’t listen to them at all, but I am an avid consumer of black literature (especially sci-fi) and black film and tv... basically everything black. Recently I’ve been looking for something new to spark conversation and further analysis of the material I consume when I stumbled across a tik tok of Amber and Ben promoting their podcast , and with them being my favorite tik tok page (check them out on tik tok @burr_iamcomedy) I had to check it out and I did NOT regret it. Along with their hilarious banter, the series gives in-depth synopsis and reviews on a plethora of sci-fi material written by and/or for black people. Also , the dynamic of the show is perfection, with Amber providing the insight of black people and how a text/film actually makes us, as a people with deep rooted trauma, feel, and then Ben comes with the expert knowledge of sci-fi and horror genres and also, he typically provides a lot of background facts and research that gives context to the discussed topic and allows listeners to make connections they might not have made before. Listening to this podcast has also given me a looooong list of books, movies, and tv shows to catch up on, which I am extremely grateful for.
All in all, this podcast is a 10/10 for ANYONE who enjoys the sci-fi genre. The Sci-fi Sigh Podcast brings good laughs, good material, and good conversation!”
