“If you thought “Soccer is more boring than Elon digging tunnels under Los Angeles,” you’d be right. But then you tune in to this podcast and suddenly the doors of perception not just open, but explode by the brute force of this podcast. Suddenly you reconsider your lifelong aversion to watching European men in shorts jog—and little else—for hours. Perhaps your staunch distaste for nil nil games and histrionic flops was in error. Maybe... you’re beginning to enjoy soccer. You think to yourself you should get a fade haircut and slender sneakers. You do. You begin incorporating footballisms like “we need a clean sheet” and “dead ball specialist” into normal speech. Your wife leaves. Your coworkers alienate and shun you. You spend your remaining dollars—now converted to euros (“just in case”)—on jerseys and catholic saint candles. As your hands are cuffed behind you and the officers lead you from the burned out husk of the storage unit you’ve spent the last 7 months calling a home, you think: “golly, that scuffed soccer podcast is powerful””
