Listen to this if you want to learn about storytelling
This is an incredible podcast about storytelling by an expert. If you are interested in understanding stories, listen to this podcast. Many story podcasts talk only about what makes a story "good." This podcast does that, but it also delves deep into *why* we love good stories. Sometimes they make statements that go against what most critics think - this is because they understand story at a much deeper level. Often this podcast goes into discussions about the culture at large, which is important to understand if you desire to truly understand good story telling. You can't help but be energized by Bassim El-Wakil's passion. The back and forth between the two hosts is not only entertaining, but often enlightening. If this podcast were lecture-hall dry, it would still be five stars. However, it's light while maintaining depth. It's fun while maintaining profundity, and every episode will have you both laughing and learning.

Even as a non-writer it's very interesting to have stories broken down. Well worth listen to. I still maintain that Bass is wrong about John Carter though. I ought to take a star off but I'm in a generous mood.Read full review »

Really interesting look at movies and TV (good and bad) including analysis as to why they work (or don’t).
