Too giggly girl-y
As a fan of the books, I was excited to find a chapter by chapter analysis of the most recent books. The episodes started out strong. The guest panelists of Sam, Clara & Paula were great. They offered interesting perspectives & insights. Then Pools was made a permanent fixture & the show became a struggle. She dominates the entire conversation with an affected accent that is akin to nails on a chalkboard all the while focusing on her romantic obsession for the main characters. Her strident insistence & preoccupation that “ Strike is Robin’s husband” is just too much. Any actual thought provoking insights just get lost. The show could’ve been great but the current hosting set up is just an exercise in irritation.

The three main hosts and the guest hosts provide great commentary and insight into these books. I’ve gained so much by listening and eagerly await new episodes. I hope they go back and cover all of the prior books. UPDATE: Guest Host Sam is especially great. He would be a nice permanent addition.

This is a really fun podcast that has gotten better and better over time. The show is energetic and positive and I enjoy the hosts’ insights and background research. It’s a casual vibe that just feels like chatting about a great book with great friends.
