Started so well
This is an interesting topic and I feel the mission to try and look at it away from the black and white view point is a good one. The first couple of episodes felt balanced and fair. But as the podcast goes on it feels increasingly biased. It feels unequal airtime is given to ‘gender critical’ people like Hadley Freeman and critical parents. I felt the treatment of Mermaids was particularly harsh. For example, in episode 5, the journalist notes that the CQC says that the majority of parents are happy with the service - so why are we only hearing from critical parents? It ultimately feels like the journalist has an agenda, which is a shame. I tried to go in with an open mind, but I’m left feeling frustrated and so sad for the children whose parents keep misgendering them.

A worthwhile listen which only the most rabid and disingenuous listener from either side of this complex topic could object to.

What an incredibly hard topic approached with care, love and empathy. As a parent, I don't know how I would face this situation with my children. Well done Polly.Read full review »

Usually Tortoise is balanced. This show is drivel. Polly has an agenda the whole way through. It’s actually quite unbearable to listen to.
