Poorly devised
As a healthcare professional and investigative podcast fan, I approached this series with open mindedness hoping to learn something by exploring critical themes. Instead the early episodes are mundane, plodding and lack real insight into this complex issue. It can be quite dull listening at times. When the host adopts a more critical position of the Tavistock’s work, it feels quite one sided. You may find yourself asking more questions upon questions as there really isn’t any balanced exploration. No understanding of multiple opinions, threads or hearing from alternative viewpoints. I don’t mind if she arises at any conclusion, it’s just that there is enough information to cast any opinion. Also when we hear from differing viewpoints the host does little to challenge. In summary I had too many ‘ah she missed this’ moments here and hopefully this podcast is a learning curve for Tortoise. An extra star given for the hosts clear empathy.

The only way I could see the picture is by looking in a window of a mirror in a window of the room where I was sleeping in

Started at an interesting tone but went downhill, reaching disturbing levels of transphobia. The trans boy’s mother gave me the creeps. Also, what can I say about Freedman, comparing trans to anorexic, emos and goths. The presenter’s bias becomes prevalent despite her efforts to conceal it.

The worst interview comes from a mother of a trans kid who essentially scoffs at the issue of suicide - appalling and I can not...Read full review »
