Description
Hi everyone, it's Lisa Mustard here, welcoming you back to "The Therapy Show." As a podcaster, mom, wife, licensed therapist, life coach, and a personal development junkie, I'm thrilled to guide you through setting meaningful intentions for 2024. This episode is all about leveraging mental wellness practices for counselors, their clients, and anyone eager to level up their emotional health. I've also got a special treat for you – my free ebook on supporting mental health.
This January, I'm switching things up by releasing more episodes than my usual weekly schedule. These episodes are packed with actionable tips to help you live your best life. Remember, not every tip will resonate with everyone, and that's okay. The idea is to pick what works for you and put it into action.
Now, let's talk about setting intentions for 2024. Unlike resolutions, which often focus on specific achievements, intentions are about aligning our daily actions with our broader life values. I'm a big believer in alignment and living an authentic life, and that's what I want to share with you.
Here's how we can set our intentions:
1. Reflect on the past year – think about your successes, challenges, and the lessons you've learned.
2. Identify your values – figure out what's truly important to you.
3. Visualize your ideal year – this helps in creating a clear mental image of what we're aiming for.
4. Set clear and realistic intentions – these should be based on your values and the vision you've created.
5. Create an actionable plan – break down your intentions into daily, weekly, or monthly steps.
6. Practice mindfulness – it's essential to check in with yourself and see if your actions are aligning with your intentions.
7. Be kind to yourself – remember, the journey is as important as the destination.
If you're feeling overwhelmed or stuck, it might be a good idea to reach out for support. Whether it's a licensed therapist or a life coach, getting help can be a game-changer.

It’s important to stress that these episodes are not meant to take the place of any work you’re doing with your therapist or doctor. In fact, please run these ideas by your counselor or doctor before you act on them to make sure you are ready for them or even fit for the suggestions. I can’t stress this enough, each person is unique and their situation is unique so please talk to your dr before starting anything new I may be suggesting.
