A True Hidden Gem
While there may be more established and well-known JRPG podcasts, The Thirsty Mage has quickly become one of my favourites. Hosted by the capable David Lloyd and always joyed by at least one quirky and interesting guest, this podcast offers interesting takes and commentaries on a number of JRPG, primarily but not exclusively for Nintendo consoles. In terms of production it is well-edited and of a high standard, with memorable jingles that expertly cap off each segment of every episode. What caps this podcast off for me is how it exudes humour and joy, never devolving into overly bombastic criticism of games for the sake of it. Instead every episode sees fair discussions of the game in questions, though for being called the Thirsty Mage, a worrying amount of guests do not partake in a joyous pint/dram/shot of their preferred liquor. But I will not judge them too harshly for that.
