I don’t get it
I gave the Thruline a listen for five eps and I just can’t get into it. It’s sometimes a little funny but never very funny, sometimes a little interesting but never very interesting, sometimes a little educational but never very educational.... you get the picture. I just don’t know what the podcast is trying to be (despite WAY too many rambling explanations up front in ep 1 and preview). Jay has made it clear not storytelling or purely comedy, OK that’s cool. But if it’s purely interview/conversational, it’s just not that good - Jay is not a great interviewer. In the latest ep the interview/conversation almost sounds like it starts mid-sentence; no intro/context, just overall very awkward. I may try again in a few months to see if Jay finds a groove but for now I have to say pass.

Big fan of Jay and his world view. I came over from The Crabfeast and definitely miss it but this is great. All of the idiots complaining that "its not funny" He never once said that it's a comedy podcast. We need to break out the old bay and have a crabfeast reunion episode though....Read full review »
