“I like Lesley alot. She’s smart, has good taste and is lesbian. I can say I like that about her cause I’m gay. So there. Daniel and I have a much more complicated relationship. I DO like him. At least, I think I do. He just gets under my skin sometimes. His points are usually valid (Unless he’s talking about GOT or The Patriots) and he does a good job of explaining why he thinks the things he does but there’s a condescension to his delivery that, as an artist, I find frustrating. Like, I can easily imagine him giving something I’ve done a horrible review while being oblivious to the fact that he specifically was not my intended audience. He also leaves little room for contrary thoughts and views which can sometimes make me annoyed on Lesley’s behalf. Like when she was explaining her feelings on RENT being a huge cultural touchstone for her. Just the tone of his voice cut through that moment of sincerity like a hot knife through...a moment of sincerity. Obviously, I can’t see them via the podcast but I have a feeling that when he goes off on his little tangents Lesley is sitting there, glaring at him. And all she can hear is the sound of her blood pressure rising. I do like him though. I think. At least, I don’t want him replaced. Yet.”
