“There are two major positions that would lead a person to oppose tobacco use, namely an anti-tobacco position and a pro-human position. A person who takes the pro-human position will generally be realistic about there goals, and generally aims to eliminate combustible tobacco use, make vapes and safe as is possible, and ensure that people under 18 aren’t using them. Ultimately there concern is for the people who consume tobacco, not that tobacco is being consumed. On the other hand, the person who holds the anti-tobacco position doesn’t actually care about people, they care about eliminating tobacco use, regardless of how viable that goal is. The fact that vapes are rapidly becoming more popular shouldn’t bother someone who’s not simply mindlessly anti-tobacco. Yes, even more or less safe vapes are addictive, but so is coffee and sugar, and there’s no one who opposes there existence. People *know* it’s addictive when they start using it and use it anyway, presumably because it makes them feel good. This podcast is a historical relic of an era where nicotine use would almost inevitably lead to lung cancer, or some other issue, and hence its opposition was reasonable. That era is rapidly ending, and hopefully this insane and wasteful crusade against nicotine will end with it.”
