“I used to be a Crooked Media devotee. Subscribed to almost every podcast, VIP tickets to a live show, and looking at joining the subscription service. After October 7th, the rhetoric from many at Crooked felt at odds with the facts and experiences of people on the ground in Gaza. Since then I took a break from all Crooked media podcasts.
After the presidential debate, I decided to listen to a couple episodes of PSA and the Wilderness, out of curiosity if nothing else. The 5th episode of the Wilderness felt particularly out of touch. I’m not sure if the hosts or pollsters have spoken with a young person who’s not on their payroll or part of a poll. This episode implied that young people are misinformed and just need to be corrected. Instead of meeting young people where they are and understanding their experiences, this episode wants us to drag them into an establishment that refuses to take their concerns seriously. It’s disappointing but this has served a valid reminder why I stopped listening. I don’t know if Crooked Media is out of touch with young people or is trying to assuage the world view of its Gen X/millennial audience.”
