“This whole show was awesome. One of my best friends who passed away awhile ago introduced me to the Wire on the premiere of season 5 for a watch party, in the hood.
Afterwards, i skipped the entire week of classes and watched every episode so that I would be caught up on the story.
JY was one of my best friends, he put me on this show and I want the following (hopefully) true story to live on forever:
JY was running lights for a jam band at a festival that also had the WuTang Clan on the bill. He’s backstage loading equipment after their set, when “Cheese” arrives.
JY walks up to Meth, and just says “Why you gotta do Prop-Joe like that?”
Meth laughed, and invited JY to the WuTang compound.
Crazy story, but it’s why I still love this show and remember him for crazy stories like this.
