A message from Justin Chisholm – the host of The Yacht Racing Podcast… At the start of this new year in 2022 I wanted to take this chance to re-introduce you all to The Yacht Racing Podcast. First of all, though, a bit about my background and why I started The Yacht Racing Podcast. My love of sailing began when I started sailing dinghies on a grimy inland lake in the north west UK at the age of nine. I was instantly hooked and I have maintained a burning passion for the sport of yacht racing ever since. Over the last 20 years I have been fortunate enough to have worked as a freelance sailing journalist covering the premiere regattas in the professional sailing world. During that time I have worked on multiple editions of the Volvo Ocean Race, the America’s Cup, the Vendee Globe, as well as reporting from the regatta venues at several Olympic Games – and many other Grand Prix sailing events across the globe. Over the years I have had the privilege of getting to know our sports top names and to sit down one to one with them to find out their back stories and to try to discover what sets these sailing greats aside from the competition. I wanted to share those stories with a wider audience of sailing fans and that’s how The Yacht Racing Podcast was born. Over the last few years I have welcomed to the podcast the likes of Thomas Coville, Ian Walker, Terry Hutchinson, Ben Ainslie, Ed Baird, Boris Herrmann, Bouwe Bekking, Ken Read, Glen Ashby, Paul Goodison, Russell Coutts, Justin Slattery, Chris Nicholson, Dee Caffari, Ray Davies, Charlie Dalit, Neal McDonald, Paul Larsen, Alex Thomson. All of those names plus many more besides and there are plenty of other great interviews scheduled each month going forward.
