Description
The racism Mayling faced growing up black in an all-white town in the USA made her think that her skin color was wrong. But through spoken word poetry she has learned to share her discomfort and insecurities, finding acceptance within herself. She now uses spoken word poetry as a way to call out issues of racial inequality in her community. Yungblud and Mayling discuss the power of poetry to change the world around us and ourselves. Details of organisations offering information and support on the issues discussed in this podcast are available at bbc.co.uk/actionline
