Is Cessationism Biblical? #245
Listen now
Description
Cessationism is the belief that the gifts of the Spirit (prophecy, speaking in tongues, words of knowledge, and others) ceased when the Apostles died. The idea is that the sign gifts were given for a short time to confirm the message of the Gospel, but that they fizzled out after the 12 disciples passed away. Derry and I don't believe that this is the correct interpretation, nor that it's strongly backed by the Bible. However, we want to give it a fair chance, see what cessationist say and analyze their claims. In this episode we look at Bible verses for and against, church history, and tell our own stories about seeing the powerful workings of God through miracles in our own lives. Enjoy!
