Nuanced Conversations that are Not Perfect
This podcast nuances the conversation between Christianity, culture, and academia with expert guests who are earnestly interested and invested in finding truth, all while tackling some of today’s most complex ideas (and publishing it all for free). While not being perfect in every episode, the producers and hosts nevertheless begin conversations which seek to shed light, not heat on important topics. That aspect alone is worth a listen (especially with today’s heightened rhetoric), and I personally can attest to the perspective and nuance their interviews have brought to my thought and spiritual life with Christ. All that said, not every episode is as scripturally based as the name may let on. The episode entitled “The Bible and Immigration” is one such example. Relying too heavily on the disciplines of psychology, sociology, and “common sense” as opposed to Biblical exegesis, the guest- and hosts- fail in some degree to shed Scriptural light on the topic. However, that is not where the discussion ends. Continue listening and one will find a newer episode entitled “The Bible and Borders” which provides excellent exegesis and application on the same topic. Such improvement over time is what I look for not only in my podcasts but also in my own personal life, and, for that fact, I find this podcast a useful tool that, while not perfect, helps me add nuance and insight into the conversations I seek to engage and inform as a Christian.
