“Here’s why you’re a bad interviewer.
1. Stop talking over the guest
2. LISTEN to the guests answer.
3. Stop rushing to your next prepared question and be flexible enough to expand on the guests answer
4. The interview is not about you
5. Only interview guests you have a genuine baseline understanding of besides a Wikipedia dive the night before. It’s obvious and painful to listen to
6. Stop calling yourself a journalist
7. Worth repeating- nobody lands upon this podcast because you’re super interesting. You’re not. We are here for the guests. Drop the 20 minute intro of pretend broadcast banter and concentrate on improving your interviews by HEARING your guest and engaging in genuine conversation versus your numerical rushed rapid fire questions or your opinion about virtually anything within the scope of the interviews.”
