Thomas does the hard work so you don't have to
The first couple episodes were a little tedious. Thomas says at the outset that he is a layman which gave me pretty low expectations since I was looking for a scholarly, non-devotional take on the bible. Now that i've been through a few books with him, I definitely see the value. I've tried to listen to mp3s of bible readings but most of them are so dry and much of the material so boring, it is almost impossible. Thomas fixes this by reiterating the ridiculous passages as they come up where the reader or listener might have otherwise been 1/2 comatose. A good bible reading requires a moderate amount of alcohol. Since my convenient reading and drinking times don't always coincide, reading it for myself can be a challenge. Thomas keeps a a glass of scotch and water handy and you can usually hear the ice a-swishin' when the book gets especially ridiculous. He does the drinking and reading for you...a true hero worthy of a listen and 5-star review!

This is one of the greatest podcasts. I have read a good portion of the bible; but it is really hard to get through. Thomas makes it much more enjoyable.

It's much more pleasant when you're going through this with some wise...Read full review »
