“It’s so nice to hear another queer voice talking about a sport I love. I relate to having a complex relationship with the team I grew up with (someday I’ll vocalize my white hot rage at Joe Ricketts).
But I feel like Rhea is so loose and so open that even without those very specific similarities, I’d be on board. It’s nice to hear someone knowledgeable about the game who is also learning (and thereby teaching us) in real time. Rhea’s investment in the game helps me to feel competitive, excited, emotional, moved and frustrated with them — sometimes over the course of one episode. You can’t ask for any more than that from a host.
I also appreciate that while Rhea is not afraid to call out players/organizations/fan groups for saying or doing garbage person things, they bring up things like forgiveness and the importance of conversations when warranted. Who would have thought I’d fly through all of these episodes so quickly. You probably did, Rhea. You understand.”
