“Wyken Seagrave takes on a tale of epic scope: time stop, aliens with alien culture, magnetic black holes, betrayal, love, lust. All the ingredients are there for a sci fi epic, but he can't quite make them stick. The characters have constantly (and arbitrarily) changing motivations and personalities, and there are an outstanding number of side characters, each with their own names and backstories. It's too much work for not enough reward. When he started throwing in a "chosen one" it was just too much, and I had to stop. Time Crystal is an admirable try, but one that ultimately fails.”
