In our eighth episode Gordon May, Royal Enfield Historian and Overland Traveller speaks with Sabrina Schoeder, originally from Germany and now residing in South Africa and a seasoned rider who has had numerous adventures and fascinating experiences on her Classic motorcycle. Her first ride on a Royal Enfield was in India when she rode around the block where she was staying in Mumbai and absolutely loved the experience. The thrill of riding the Enfield was what then led her to straight away ride out on the same in the Himalayas. Despite the apparent intimidating persona of the motorcycle, she found it quite easy to ride on the motorcycle and felt that as a rider, she grew alongside the motorcycle as she rode more and more. During her stay in Mumbai she met a fellow South African rider who also loved the Enfield and an idea sprouted to have a fleet of Royal Enfield motorcycles in South Africa for renting out and touring. This seed of an idea led to them establishing Retza, a motorcycle rental and touring company based in Capetown and having an impressive fleet of Royal Enfield Classic motorcycles. She has successfully conducted many tours and rides all over South Africa professionally and once in a while makes some time to take off on a ride and explore interesting places all over the world. She feels that the Classic motorcycle with its unmistakable old school charm has always served as a conversation starter all over her country and has helped make some great friends on the road who immediately were wonderstruck by her motorcycle. Thus, she has also enabled the popularity of the Royal Enfield motorcycle and helped grow the community in South Africa. Do join us for the next Timeless Classic episode when we speak to more riders across the world and get to hear their interesting stories and experiences on their Royal Enfield Classic motorcycle.
