In our first episode Gordon May, Royal Enfield’s historian, author and overland motorcycle traveller speaks to the people who were involved in the initial stages of the development of the Classic and brings out stories and trivia around the development. Joining him in this episode are S Siva Kumar, Head of Industrial design, India and is based at Royal Enfield’s Technical Centre in Chennai. Siva was closely involved with the initial design concept and has been responsible for the design changes that are made to all of the current model range. Mark Wells, Global Head of Product Strategy and Industrial Design is based at Royal Enfield’s UK Technical Centre. Mark was a partner in Xenophya, the UK motorcycle design studio that was heavily involved in designing both the Classic and 535 Continental GT before joining Royal Enfield full time in 2016. Ian Wride, Head of Industrial Design, UK and is based at Royal Enfield’s UK Technical Centre. Ian was also a partner in Xenophya, the UK motorcycle design studio that was heavily involved in designing both the Classic and 535 Continental GT before joining Royal Enfield full time.
