In our fifth episode Gordon May, Royal Enfield historian, Author, Overland Traveller, and our host for this episode speaks with two riders from North America who have had numerous adventures and fascinating experiences on their Classic motorcycles. Joining him in this episode are Craig Harkins - A Toronto based Agricultural Professional, Craig uses his Maroon Classic Chrome 500 for his regular commute rides from home to work as well as the occasional long rides that take him to far off places. This was the first Royal Enfield he ever saw and was so smitten by it the first time he saw it in pictures, that he ended up picking it up without even a attest ride or even seeing the motorcycle in chrome and metal. The first time he rode out on the motorcycle he had the widest grin ever and this motorcycle has been his love and pride for 11 years now. One of his most memorable rides has been one where he rode down from Canada to Milwaukee for the opening of the Royal Enfield North America Headquarters 750 odd kilometres from his home. Jeremy Pendergast - Iowa-based Jeremy manages Baxter Cycles which is credited with having restored numerous Redditch make Royal Enfield motorcycles. Having got the bug of motorcycle riding from his father he actually bought a Chennai-made Royal Enfield Bullet as his first motorcycle. Some of his prized possessions however are some of the best maintained and running Royal Enfield twins including some rare Vax Interceptors and also a few Enfield engined Indians. He also has a few Classic 500’s with him which he regularly uses for riding around and loves the way it gives him the feel of a big British single and its graceful form and casquette that never goes of style. He has modded his Classic with a custom seat and has shod it with off-road tyres for the occasional spin around the dirt track. Do join us for the next Timeless Classic episode when we speak to more riders across the world and get to hear their interesting stories and experiences on their Royal Enfield Classic motorcycle.
