Description
The novel begins in the voice of Tio Jorge (George), who describes a tragic event that happens when he is out jogging along the California coast. He is visiting his friend, Miguel, now married to an upper class California girl. They have a daughter, Rebecca, who is five years old.

In the final episode of Tio Jorge the family prepares for Jorgito's crossing to the U.S. Rebecca, Alberto and George make a visit to Parque Escondido as it will be the last chance they have to see it before they leave the country.

Rebecca, George, and Alberto go to Mexico to spend the holidays with Rebecca's Mexican family. George tries to explain the mystery man in the courtroom and gets himself in trouble. They also find out that Jorge has gone missing in Mexico City while visiting his mother.
