#DesignYourLife #TheNewChannel | S1:E10 "Challenging the Status Quo"
Philippine-born, Detroit-raised, and having trained and honed his culinary skills in Europe and the foodie cities of Chicago and Portland, OR, Carlo Lamagna has come a long way since our host last saw him, as a fellow pre-med student. A quick websearch would reveal that he was one of Plate Magazine’s Chefs to Watch in 2018, Starchef’s Rising Star Chef in 2018, one of Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Chefs in 2021, James Beard Foundation Finalist Best Chef for the Pacific and Northwest in 2022 and, his restaurant, Magna Kusina, was hailed Restaurant of the Year by the Oregonian in 2021. He’s been featured on TV and multiple online foodie magazines and even won a round on the TV show, “The Globe”, besting his fellow chef competitors and winning a trip to Japan. And if all that wasn’t enough, you’ll find he did a Ted talk on “Redefining Authenticity in Cuisine”.
Join us, as we learn about Carlo’s journey from being eyed by his family as the next doctor, to becoming a chef, and now restaurateur.
Catch us this Thursday, 18 January 2024 at 7PM PST/Friday, 19 January 2024 at 10AM PHT only here on The New Channel!
