Description
Toni and Emily cover raw food for animals with a board certified veterinary nutritionist.  Susan G. Wynn, DVM, DACVIM (Nutrition) is a 1987 graduate of the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her residency at University of Tennessee and became board-certified in Nutrition in 2016. Dr. Wynn was in clinical practice for 31 years, most recently with BluePearl Veterinary Partners as their nutrition specialist. She is currently the Senior Director of Scientific Affairs with Instinct Pet Food in St.Louis, Missouri. We also have Stephanie Striar here with us as well! She is a CVT (certified veterinary technician) who is in her final year of a master’s in animal nutrition program.   The first raw food company that Toni and Emily will talk about is Answers. They use fermentation as a way to kill off bacteria. By utilizing kombucha (fermented organic decaffeinated green tea), raw cultured whey, cultured raw goat’s milk, and kefir, we created our own category and became the first and only fermented raw pet food supplier in the industry. Fermentation supports healthy immune function by increasing the B vitamins, digestive enzymes, antioxidants, and lactic acid that fight off harmful bacteria. It’s also the ultimate source of probiotics. Secondly, Toni and Emily talk about the process of HPP (High Pressure Processing) and the different companies that use this process as a way of killing off harmful bacteria and keeping their meat safe for animal consumption. HPP is a non-thermal food preservation technique that kills microorganisms that can cause diseases or spoil food. It uses intense pressure for a certain time and has minimal effects on taste, texture, appearance, or nutritional values. Finally Toni and Emily talk about how they handle their foods and which companies they use and like. Not all food companies process their meat either and Emily and Toni talk about how they have used those options as well with their dogs. They talk about how Toni’s dog Meg transitioned well over to a raw meat diet without issue whatsoever. Emily and Toni both like to rotate through different raw diets, and keep their dogs on a rotational diet. They talk about the importance of variety in pets diets and the benefits it has on their individual pets.    Direct any comments or questions to: [email protected]  Visit our websites: www.healthypetproducts.net / www.toniunleashed.com  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/healthypetproducts/ https://www.instagram.com/toni.unleashed/  Facebook: Thttps://www.facebook.com/HealthyPetProducts / https://www.facebook.com/ToniUnleashed  Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAMxTEiHqRkpWNakn4OA__A  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@healthypetproducts / https://www.tiktok.com/@toni.unleashed  Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/HealthyPetProducts/ / https://www.pinterest.com/ToniUnleashed/
