Jewish Farming
Listen now
Description
For the first 2,000 years or so of Judaism, Jews were mostly agrarian farmers. Many of the commandments of the Torah involve farming and agriculture particularly in the land of Israel. There are rules about how and when to plant and harvest, tithes, gifts for the poor and gifts for G-d.  Most Jews left farming about 1,300 years ago but there have been repeated attempts to return Jews to the farm in the years since. A fascinating class about the history and laws of Jewish farming.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/zalman-gordon/support
