Description
Today nearly 200 thousand female college athletes have filed a Title IX since its creation in 1972. Title IX outlawed discrimination based on gender in education and opened doors for women’s athletic programs. We’ll talk with Donna Lopiano, who spent six decades in women’s competitive sports and was one of the first Women’s Athletic Directors in the country. We’ll also look at the present obstacles that elite athletes still face when it comes to equal opportunity, even when they’ve outperformed their male counterparts, like in the case of the US women’s national soccer team. Through the lens of several women impacted, we’ll see how Title IX provides more than just athletic opportunities and how it has led to sweeping changes in women’s sports. Hosted by Molly Bloom. Produced by FilmNation Entertainment in association with Gilded Audio.
