“I follow quite a few history podcasts and have always been interested in Greek history & literature. This podcast is a beautiful mix of the retelling of the full story of the Trojan War (not just the Iliad) in easy to understand language while also providing the historical context of the story. What I enjoyed most was the last 20 minutes or so (he provides a brief break & remarks in the show notes) a deeper analysis of some of the ideas brought up in the story. Fate vs Free Will, why DID Helen leave Sparta with Paris (alternative theories), Bronze Age honor culture, & how it affects the story, etc.
If you had to read the Iliad in school & was bored to death—-LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST. If you love hearing alternative views of well known characters—-LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST. If you enjoy intersection of history & literature, again, LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST. I binged listened to this 24 hour podcast in a few days. Check it out. You won’t regret it.”
