13th of October 1999 Carl drove his hire car to Gladstone Park, a northwest suburb of Melbourne, and waited for Mark and Jason to arrive. When they did, the trio hopped into Carl’s hire car and drove around until they found a small reserve in Barrington Crescent. It was mid afternoon, and the small park was flanked by residential homes. When the subject of prices and past deals gone awry came up, Jason produced a small .22 Derringer and put the barrel to Carl’s gut. ‘No Jason’, Carl yelled, before the shot went off, the slug going into Carl’s abdomen.
