On September 24, 2024, Missouri executed Marcellus Williams for the 1998 murder of Felicia Gayle. Multiple courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, denied last-minute appeals. One of the most troubling aspects of this case is the role that informants played in Williams’ conviction. Both of the main witnesses against him had incentives to testify, and this has raised concerns about the reliability of their statements.
